Game Released (And notes on experimentation)
Fun news, the project is finally complete! Though its a lot smaller in scope than I ultimately aimed for. Feature creep is a real issue and the scope of the story I had planned was never really sensible. I'm glad to have it out the door so I can move on to other things with my time and am fairly happy with the state it ended up in.
I've updated the store page to state that this is an experiment in narrative perspective and that is absolutely true. Its an experiment, and sometimes they reveal that some things haven't really worked. It turns out that a second person depersonalisation narrative is pretty good for a (very) short story buuut its not exactly going to work hold up over an 8 act structure with branching paths. I found myself making up conceits to have third person narrated sections and at that point it might have been better to rewrite the entire thing. Alas I didnt really have the creative stamina for that. Not when I'd moved on so thoroughly from the core idea with my other creative goals.
Perfect is the enemy of finished and released though! Far better it be done than sat moldering as a demo on my page or quietly hidden away from public view. I've learned a lot, and my next project will be all the better for it!
